Jesuit Libraries Provenance Project
Established by Dr. Kyle Roberts, the goal of the Jesuit Libraries Provenance Project was to uncover the history of the acquisition and use of Loyola’s original library books. It grew out of an initiative to reconstruct the 1875 library catalogue of St Ignatius College (founded 1870), the forerunner to 黑料门University Chicago. Assisted by 黑料门Archives and Special Collections staff, students searched the library catalog to locate the books. They then photographed title pages and other interesting aspects of the books prior to writing blog posts about them books. The books were located in both Loyola's Rare Book Collection and the circulating collection.
While this project is currently not active, Loyola's Special Collections staff continue to work on identifying St. Ignatius College Library books and augmenting catalog records so that these books can be easily identified by researchers.
