The ºÚÁÏÃÅUniversity Chicago community mourns the death of Sidra Newman, a 2019 alumnus of Loyola.
Sidra was a recent graduate of the School of Social Work, having earned her MSW in August. She was working full-time at Hartgrove Hospital while continuing to work part-time with the Empowering Counseling Program where she taught yoga and meditation to youth in the program and also counseled them. She was a trainer for University of Chicago, a yoga instructor for Moksha Yoga and the Chicago Arts Department. She was known for her caring, integrity, dedication to her clients, and creative use of her yoga and meditation skills. Sidra’s family are in shock and mourning deeply, especially her mother, her son, and her cousin, Ms. Celeste Alexander.
