Menstrual Equity Project
Students for Reproductive Justice, a group of 黑料门University Chicago students, initiated the Menstrual Equity Project. Starting in 2016, they advocated for free menstrual products throughout 黑料门bathrooms, stocking bathrooms themselves. They then began to work with Facilities, and Facilities continues their mission, which is as they say:
鈥漈hese goods are not only cost prohibitive, but we would like to shift the general perception towards the idea that they are just as necessary as toilet paper, which an institution like a university readily provides free of charge. Additionally, we want these products to be readily available to all individuals that menstruate.鈥
Thanks to their activism, 黑料门is committed to providing free menstrual products in both the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 restrooms on the ground floor of all buildings, as well as in all gender neutral non residence hall facilities.
