Joel Maidens, MA
Associate Director for New Student Programs
Joel provides leadership and strategy to all aspects of New Student Programs, including the UNIV 101, 102, and 201 courses, New Student Orientation, New Student Convocation, and other first-year programs that support and empower new students at Loyola. Joel is inspired daily by students' resilience, creativity, and energy and strives to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for both new students and families during the first stages of their time as Ramblers.
Joel is originally from Hudsonville, Michigan. In his spare time, he enjoys being outside (biking, running, hiking), finding new recipes to cook, and traveling, both throughout Chicago and around the world.
Fun fact: "I am a USA Hockey certified referee and I officiate youth hockey in Chicago and nationally."
