Careers Beyond LUC
Your postdoctoral training at LUC should not last more than 5 years if you are in biomedical research, and are shorter if in humanities or other disciplines. And so plan accordingly with the support of your PI. This means that you want to be on the job market during your last planned year.
To help you advance in career development, attend workshops offered by Career Services, and take advantage of 1-on-1 career advising sessions offered by Dr. Brian Campbell. Proactively think about your soft skills, build resilience, produce great scholarly work, conduct informational interviews with professionals from within your network, etc. While no two job search processes will be identical, we offer examples of applications for Academic Research or Academic Teaching positions, as well as resumes vs CVs. Contact PostdocOffice at to obtain these.
End of Training Planning
For some postdocs, you may need extra few months or years before you transition elsewhere, or it may be that you would like to stay on as a senior scientist. We encourage postdocs to discuss these options with their PIs or mentors, especially as your training passes the half-way point.
Exit Interview
Let us know when your training comes to a conclusion, by reach out to PDO office at PostdocOffice at luc.edu. We will forward you a link to an anonymous exit survey, which will help PDO offer more curated training environment and culture to support the development of future postdocs at LUC.
