The Wellness Center works with different groups across campus to help teach and promote different topics for the well-being of the student body. If you are interested in having someone from the Wellness Center present or help plan a program,  at least 14 days in advance of the planned date. Below are a few examples of ready-made workshops that we can offer. Our peer health educators, the Wellness Advocates, can also offer workshops on sleep, nutrition, stress, and alcohol.

I'm Here For You is a 90-minute workshop for staff and faculty aimed at providing participants with the skills necessary to have helpful conversations with students who have experienced dating violence, sexual misconduct, and stalking. The training will also cover an employee's duty to notify the university of disclosures of sexual misconduct.

Empathy in Action is a workshop for friends, loved ones, acquaintances, peers, and partners who want to support those in their life who have been affected by sexual and/or relationship violence.  The training will focus on both best practices for emotional support as well as tangible aid/resources.

Alcohol and Other Drugs provides students with essential knowledge and practical strategies for making safer choices. The presentation explores harm reduction techniques, such as recognizing signs of substance misuse, setting personal limits, and supporting peers in difficult situations. Additionally, students will learn important facts about alcohol and other drugs, including how they affect the body and mind, common myths, and strategies for handling social pressure.

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training teaches the necessary tools to recognize the warning sides of suicide and a three-step method to responding to distress.

Addressing Stress and Burnout: Practical Strategies for Self-Care covers the concepts of well-being, stress, burnout, and self-care. It defines stress and its symptoms and differentiates stress from burnout, self-care from self-soothing techniques and provides example practices. Attendees are provided a self-care inventory at the end as well as a worksheet allowing students to write down their own personalized plan to avoid stress and burnout.

Narcan Training is a 60-minute session on the use of Narcan, a nasal spray that can be used in an emergency situation to reverse an opioid overdose. The training session will include an introduction to the opioid crisis, how to recognize the signs of an overdose, and instructions on how to respond in an overdose situation. At the end all attendees will receive a dose of Narcan to take with them.
